MIRACLES!!!

Two nights ago I got the call no one ever wants to get! "Hi is this Heather?" "Yes" "I am with your husband right now, he was just in a car accident and it is a miracle he is alive!" "Oh my gosh is he okay???" "He is fine, he is walking and talking, his truck rolled three times!" At that moment the adrenaline kicked in and I raced out the door to go find my husband. As I drove I started freaking out and called my brother to keep me calm-- it was a long drive with a few phone calls instructing me to meet Omar at the U of U hospital and then to not because he was refusing to go! Driving through the dark canyon seemed like eternity! I just wanted to be there until I was! I came around a turn in the canyon to see over a mile of flares, a few police, a firetruck, an ambulance and my husband's truck sitting on it's side on the wrong side of the highway with his belongings scattered everywhere! That was the worst sight of my life!!! I pulled into the flares, jumped out of the van and went running to the ambulance, through the back window I could see Omar on the stretcher ALIVE- I can honestly say I have never been so happy to see my sweet husband! Inside the ambulance I got the rundown of the pain in the back of the head, the pain in his hip, irregular and very slow heart rate, and he was signing the papers to refuse a ride in the ambulance! I was then begged by the paramedics to take him straight to the hospital! On the way to the van, we talked to an officer who told us to wait until they flipped the truck to grab any belongings. We went to the van to wait where we hugged and cried and thanked the Lord for our miracle!!! Then I got the details of the whole event- Omar was driving 65 down the canyon when 2 deer ran in front of him, he thought he could swerve and miss them but once he swerved his brakes locked up and he could not get control- from the far right lane he went across 3 lanes, hit the median, rolled 3 times, to come to a stop in the middle lane of the other side of the interstate facing the direction of the traffic with his truck on it's side! His adrenaline kicked in and he climbed out his back window fearing he would be hit by another car. Once he was out so many sweet people stopped to help, including and ER doctor on vacation that took the time to look him over-- blessings! Okay so back to the story--- Once they flipped the truck I was able to grab his phone-- the phone I had been calling wondering why he was not home from work yet, what a surreal moment to think I was sitting at home folding laundry waiting for Omar and his phone, that I had been calling, was under his mangled truck in the middle of a busy interstate! We went straight to the hospital for a cat scan and x-rays and by the middle of the night I was driving my husband, who had not only survived this horrific accident but had not a scratch on him and walked away with only a concusion, home to our sweet children! We went home to hold our sleeping babies and cuddle up in bed so grateful to be together!!!

Here is the damage...

yes that is the hood, the battery and the dashmat that were all gathered from the road

So the lesson here is slow down, wear your seat belt and pray that angels will protect you like they did Omar, so you can enjoy every minute you have with your family!!

Sienna is so happy her daddy is safe and sound-- we ALL are!

WE LOVE YOU OMAR!!!

I'm am just sooooooooooooooooo happy that this wasn't one of those posts that went the OTHER way to talk about a tragic accident that didn't end happily ever after! WHEW! To think, here I was in San Diego, just working on the pictures of your lovely family and there Omar was crawling out of the back of his truck! YIKES! Sure love you guys!

Wow!!! It sounds like he had a seatbelt on plus some serious angels not about to let him go down. You must have helped some poor lonely 7th grader earlier in life to have such personal angelic service. Just kidding. All jokes aside, I am so glad you are all safe and that he was went out unscathed. You are an incredible family and obviously have a lot of work to do to let a few deer get in the way. Great job!

It's been forever since I looked at your blog and this is what I find! HOLY COW. We are so glad Omar is fine. We are moving again this time to North County and I got thinking about you scaring me in my window that very first time we met. I'm having a little bit of a hard time with this move and was thinking that I really needed my friend Heather to put in all in perspective for me. Well this post did it. I guess the Lord just needed me to look at your blog tonight. Glad everything is ok. Love you guys.

Well I guess it was the trucks time to go and not Omar's! He has been in 3 accidents that I know of and 2 of them in that truck and walked away without a scratch. He hit a weight bench on the 805 in San Diego and the hood flew up and broke the windshield. The other time was when he, Todd and Brigham decided to take the Blue Bug and go do some doughnuts in the dirt over at the school and rolled it I don't know how many times! I have pictures of the staples in this head from hitting the roll-bar. Crazy guy! I guess the Lord really needs him to take care of business and bless this world and your family with all he has to offer...his amazing spirit. I could go on and on...I'm so glad you're okay.
